Madeline Island is one of our favorite places but it isn’t the easiest place to get to! We really appreciate everyone making the journey to celebrate with us - life is all about the journey so see below for the easiest and most entertaining routes to get to Madeline Island and to explore the Midwest.

getting TO MADELINE ISLAND

The easiest place to fly into is either Minneapolis - St. Paul International Airport or the Duluth International Airport. From there, you will rent a car (or plan to carpool with someone already driving up) and drive up to Bayfield, Wisconsin where you will catch the ferry to the Island.

Directions from minneapolis to BAYFIELD, WI

The drive is roughly 3.5 to 4 hours from the Twin Cities to Bayfield and about an hour from Duluth. The ferry is an additional half hour. We would recommend planning for 4 to 5 hours of travel time once you touch down in Minneapolis - St. Paul.
