Some of our Favorites
Maddy grew up spending summers on Madeline Island. While the island is unfortunately NOT named after her, it is a very special and history-filled place for her and her family. Since meeting, Brem has been properly purified in the waters of Lake Superior and hazed via family fireworks shows. Whether you stay on the island for two weeks or two days, we want you to enjoy Madeline Island as much as we do!
Big bay state park
The 2,350-acre park has a 1.5-mile beach, campground, picnic areas and more than seven miles of hiking and nature trails.
Eagles' Nest (an area within the park) has miles of cliff-lined shoreline offering cliff jumping and beautiful scenery. The Titcomb family visits this area of the park every year for a picnic, cliff jumping, and swimming along the cliffs.
The Big Bay lagoon also features a powdery beach for those less vertically inclined alongside walking/running trails and the opportunity to canoe or kayak deep into the fingers of the lagoon.
tom's burned down cafe
The most popular and peculiar bar on Madeline Island. Located in the center of town and hard to miss, Tom's Burned Down Cafe is unique to say the least. Offering a variety of canned beers, "island margaritas", frozen pizzas, and excellent live bluegrass, you will never truly know the Island scene until you have been to Tommy's. Dancing will definitely be had here. Bring cash and an open mind.
Kayaking the apostle islands
The Apostle Islands have long been a favorite spot for kayakers. Whatever your level of experience, the islands offer breathtaking views. Below are links to rental companies. For the less experienced, there are outfitters that offer tours.

Feeling adventurous?
Hop over to one of the 17 other Apostle Islands. All are designated National Parks with no year round (human) dwellers and each has a unique flavor and history. The steep red cliffs of Devil’s Island make you feel like you have reached the end of the earth, while Stockton Island is known for it’s “singing sands” beach. Swim over spooky old ship wrecks if you dare on nearby Long Island.
bikES, Mopeds
Explore the Island on a bike or moped. Rentals can be found in town at Motion To Go. http://www.motion-to-go.com/
